Chronicling Inuit life in bronze images, Ian Smith depicts the spirit and vitality of the Canadian north, filtered through his experiences.

Sixteen years in arctic communities shaped his life, thoughts and creativity. Over the years, the images of Inuit and arctic life have been mentally filed to be expressed in his art and shared with the world.

As his father and ancestors came to the frozen edge of the sea to ask for continued giving of the needed resources to sustain the Inuit, this skin clothed hunter looks into the cold dark depths and hopes for success. Skilled by generations, he waits patiently, subject to the fickle whim of nature.
